Meet the GXY Team

Melissa (Mellie) Bridge Yvonne Hughes Tom Harrison Jayde Ryan Amanda Klarin Dave Johnson Katherine Incledon Mali

Director – Melissa (Mellie) Bridge

GXYSearch is Mel’s baby. After doing ten years’ time in corporate Australia – mainly in senior HR roles – Mel decided to create the recruitment agency she always wanted to hire from.

Mel has an almost scary passion for business and gets a thrill from giving others a step up (don’t start her talking about Kiva). She is a super-keen member of the global Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO), although some of us suspect it’s just an excuse to travel to at least four different countries a year to party with hot rich dudes.

Despite – or perhaps because of – her frenetic lifestyle, Mel is devoted to Tai Chi. What the elderly Chinese make of her Sass & Bide gear is anyone’s guess.

Mel is friendly, frank and full of good advice. It has been rumored that she has “done lunch” with literally every person living in Melbourne (at nearly every café).

Consultant – Yvonne Hughes

Yvonne has all the right experience, but we reckon it’s her spooky sixth sense that makes her such a star recruiter. Candidates adore her, clients want to poach her, and we want to know how the hell she has managed to wear a different outfit every day for four years.

Yvonne is a serious Pilates-junkie, which makes her the perfect match for her favorite city – LA and makes her the envy of every girl on the beach when she’s hanging out in exotic locales like Costa Rica. Yeah we hate her and her ability to wear just about whatever she bloody wants.

Oh, and FYI, Yvonne is mad about dogs. She has been known to interrupt an interview to hug a passing dog. You can’t say we didn’t warn you…

Consultant – Tom Harrison

Tasmanian Tom is our Sports and Entertainment recruiter and all-round sports nut. (He even majored in Sports Management at Uni.) His CV is a testament to this: think stints with the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, Victoria Racing Club and Porsche (in London). Imagine the perks!

Not only is Tom’s role an exciting new sector for GXY, but with an office full of five females and one male, I think it’s safe to say the girls are more than happy for Tom to be bringing in a new wave of candidates for their appreciation, if you understand what we mean *wink wink.*

So a wrap up – an experienced traveler, converted Melbourne boy and Sports fiend, not to mention he’s patient enough to survive being the only bloke in an office of 5 chicks! Let’s see how this goes…

Consultant – Jayde Ryan

Jayde is our advertising, marketing and digital specialist and really knows her stuff after working with some of London’s top agencies.

Jayde has only just returned to Melbourne after three years gallivanting around the globe – she impressively managed to clock up 32 cities in 17 countries! She’s now happy with her two feet firmly grounded on (Port) Melbourne soil, so if you find yourself doing a bit of Saturday grocery shopping in the Bay St Coles don’t be surprised if you see Jayde lurking in the aisles. She has an unnatural obsession with that supermarket.

Jayde is a bit of a tech-head, meaning obsessed with the internet and everything the wonderful world of web 2.0 can offer! However she’s not the stereotypical square eyed nerd that doesn’t leave their cave – she’s also a sport freak; she plays basketball and netball and not just on her iPhone!

Research & Marketing Assistant – Amanda Klarin

Having traversed half the world by the age of 22, Amanda is our in-house travel agent. She is particularly good on Croatian hotspots, and when we say ‘good’ we mean that she knows which seat at which bar on which island has the best sunset views (and let’s face it, cocktails). Amanda is a spiritual Londoner after falling in love with the city that she lived in for the better part of ‘08. Now she just goes misty at the mention of Marks & Sparks knickers.

Amanda is still studying, which might explain the unnaturally close relationship she has with her laptop, Adam. Yes, really. She already has an Advanced Diploma of Business Marketing, and responsible for our social media strategy, which is why she is always on Facebook. Apparently.

Senior Consultant (Sydney) – Dave Johnson

We are delighted that after 20 years in sales, Dave has moved into recruitment. He is heading up our Sydney office and winning a legion of fans with his unique ability to look totally chilled out while pedaling like mad under the desk.

Dave was raised on a surfboard, and has an amazing network of cool peeps in fashion and sports. He knows everyone at the major Action Sport Brands, from athletes and marketing teams through to CEO’s, Sales execs and those oh so fashionable Sydney designers.

Dave is the ultimate GXY enthusiast, always coming into work with a positive beyond positive attitude, which is a great hype for the team…at times. At other times you just want to beat him with the office phone! But that’s just the kind of guy he is, even with a house full of females at home (and the office) he manages to get them hyped up and addicted to his passions. So when he’s not working he’ll be on a surf or snow adventure with the fam and having a ball!

Katherine Incledon – Para Consultant

Our graduate Katherine is remarkable not least for her commitment to wearing floral clothing… daily. Yup every day you’ll find her in something floral.

After studying at Deakin Uni and graduating last year she, in very Gen Y fashion, decided a three month travel adventure was in order. But now we think she may have had one to many boozy all nighters on her travels as she’s in bed by 10pm every night or falls asleep at her desk the next morning, and to make things worse she’s not a coffee drinker (we don’t know how she survives!).

Oh and there are a few things you should know about our uber cool Katherine. Firstly, she can’t be left alone with any dog unless you fully expect all of their training to go out the window (she can’t say no to their little puppy dog eyes) and secondly, she has taken over Yvonne’s highly reputable status as the office shopaholic (by a mile).

Dog – Mali

Born in March 2010, Mali is romantic by name (Mali means “small” in Croatian and “flower” in Thai) and brattish by nature.

She was “rescued” from Geelong by Mel, who insists upon bringing her to the office and who has added “dog walking” (amongst other gruesome activities) to her employees’ role descriptions. Fortunately, Mel only breastfeeds her at home.

Mali has a taste for Country Road cushions. (Which is a relief because some dogs insist upon those nasty foam ones from Spotlight).
